Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

First off, check that your vacuum advance hose is hooked up to the carb and working properly. That's the first thing I'd check. To check the vacuum advance, pull the hose off the carb and suck on the...

Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

Hey I tried to suck on the vaum advance, and I didn't see anything rotate. Suking on the tube wasn't easy, and I could hear the diaphram popping back and forth. So this may be the souce of (some) of...

Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

My answer would be by throwing it away and putting in a new Bosch .009 mechanical advance distributor with a Pertronix module in place of the points.Having said that, the other choice is to buy a new...

Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

This might be a stupid idea, but with the engine off, get someone to press the accelerator to the floor and see if you get full opening at the carburettor. Sometimes the throttle cable gets a bit...

Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

I've also noticed that points tend to close up a bit on their own after a few hundred miles and should get rechecked. This is another reason why I don't deal with them anymore.DocJust like downtown

Re: I'VE (not) GOT THE POWER!!

Well, I took my car to a local VW mechanic, and apart from offering to buy my car on the spot ( a boost to the ego )he informed me that I have a later model distributor, he thinks perhaps a '66 with a...
